Curriculum: Computing

Through our computing curriculum at Beverley Minster Primary School, we aim to give our children the knowledge and skills that will enable them to embrace and utilise new technology in a socially responsible and safe way, allowing them to flourish. By the time our children finish Year 6, we intend for them to be confident, independent users of computing technologies, gaining experience and enjoyment from their activities and be able to operate successfully in the 21st century.

We want the use of technology to support learning across the entire curriculum and to ensure that our challenging curriculum is accessible to every child.  Not only do we want them to be digitally literate and competent users of technology but through our lessons we want them to develop creativity, build resilience and problem-solving skills whilst practising their critical thinking skills. We want our children to understand the importance of being safe online and be aware of their online footprint as they progress through their lives. We intend for our pupils to have a breadth of experience working with technology to develop their understanding of themselves as individuals, within their community, but also as members of a wider global community as responsible digital citizens.
